I am constantly looking for new DIY ideas that are affordable and can make my college home-away-from-home feel festive for the spring season! Mason jars are perfect for decorating—they are a Southern staple. I began searching for decorating tips that used these easy accents and was delighted to find ombré mason jars!
These jars are incredibly easy to make and adds a pop to any freshly picked floral arrangement – the ones photographed here are courtesy of the Epting Events floral department – thanks Kimberly! We chose to ombré ours, but feel free to use the color or style of your liking (and don’t forget to share your finished product with us by tagging @eptingevents on Instagram!).
To create your own ombré mason jars you’ll need:
3 mason jars
1 color of your favorite acrylic paint
1 bottle of white acrylic paint
1 paint brush
1 jar of modge podge
Flowers for decoration
Now that you have everything- grab a friend and you are ready to begin!
Step 1: Create your ombre paint pallet by adding white to lighten the original color each time.
Step 2: Since you are making three jars, make 3 separate paint pallets!
Step 3: Paint the mason jars with two coats of paint, painting the darkest color on one jar, the medium tone on the second, and the lightest tone on the third.
Step 4: Let the jars dry upside down overnight.
Step 5: Take the sandpaper and brush the edges of the mason jars until you like how distressed they are—this is totally up to you!
Step 6: Finish by painting the mason jars with your modge podge for long lasting durability.
Step 7: Complete your craft by adding some fresh spring flowers!
We hope your dip-dyed mason jars help add a dash of spring cheer to your dining room table or spring event. Let us know what colors you guys used!
