Valentine’s Day is a special day that can be celebrated the entire month of February. Pink ribbons decorate store window fronts and dainty heart streamers hang from ceilings as soon as February rolls around. As for me, I take full advantage of all of the Valentine’s Day love! I dot my I’s with hearts during this special month, proudly wear my pink and red, and of course… indulge in all things sweet and chocolate.
These cocoa-flavored and powder sugar dusted Red Velvet Pancakes are a DIY recipe you do not want to miss this weekend. These pancakes are super easy to whip up and will bring a smile to your loved one’s faces on Valentine’s Day!
I invested in a few heart-shaped cookie cutters for this project, but if you’d like your cakes to be the classic pancake shape, they will still taste incredibly indulgent.
The fun part of these pancakes…the toppings! I topped mine with cream cheese frosting, melted white chocolate, and milk chocolate chips. They make for a beautiful presentation and that deep, velvety red color makes my heart pitter patter.
Simply mix your dry ingredients, slowly incorporate your wet ingredients, add 1 Tbs. of cocoa powder, and a few drops of red food coloring.
Pour into cookie cutters on a warm pan. Pop pancakes out of the cookie cutters, flip, and enjoy! Top with your favorite cream cheese frosting recipe (Or hey! our Bourbon Cream Cheese frosting would be incredible with these!)
